Adonis vernalis Pheasant's Eye Perennial A very distinctive 12" high bright yellow, interesting, daisy-like flower.  Puffy, frilly, ferny foliage adds a nice texture, and the blooms are huge & gorgeous.  A medicinal herb used historically for heart health. Andropogon glomeratus Bushy Bluestem Grass Grass An eye-catching garden specimen in September when it blooms with silvery puffy tufts atop 30" sturdy vertical stalks.  Green leaves turn coppery orange in autumn. Likes wet spots. Sun to part sun. Sun, Part Sun Wet, Normal Autumn White
Aquilegia canadensis Columbine 'Little Lanterns' Perennial The cutest little columbine ever!  Only 10" high and smothered with coral red miniature blooms in early to mid summer.  Sometimes reblooms in autumn. Shade to sun. Shade, Sun Normal Summer Red
Arnica montana Arnica Perennial Arnica extracts are incredible for relieving muscle and joint aches & pains.  It is also a delightful, bright yellow daisy that grows easily and blooms reliably in July. Native to most western mountain states. Loves sun. Sun, Part Sun Normal, Dry Summer Yellow
Asclepias speciosa Milkweed Perennial Strong, leathery blue-green leaves and stems rise to about 2 ft. & then sprout light and dark pink flower clusters that look like fireworks explosions.  The BEST butterfly magnet EVER!  Blooms late spring to early fall. Sun. Sun Normal Summer Pink
Baptisia australis Baptisia 'Caspian Blue' Perennial A vigorous shrub-like perennial with tropical looking foliage and perfect indigo blue pea-like flowers by the hundreds in mid summer.  Used for blue dye.  Cut stems back after flowering to keep it looking neat for the rest of summer. Calendula officinalis Calendula 'Kablouna' Annual Yep, we like Calendula. This one looks most like the misleading common name for Calendula, 'Pot Marigold'.  A puff of yellow or orange in the center with a white or yellow halo. All parts are good in herbal teas. Calendula officinalis Calendula 'Pink Surprise' Annual We like Calendula. A lot. This one flowers with dense puffs of oranges, yellows and cream, sometimes with a tinge of pink. Surprise! Blooms and leaves are good in herbal teas. Readily self-seeds. Sun, Part Shade Normal Spring, Summer Orange
Campanula rotundifolia Bell Flower 'White Gem' Perennial Clumps of small, round-leaved foliage sprout many delicate stems which are topped with dozens of pure white bell flowers summer through fall. Sun to light shade & moist soil. Sun, Part Shade Normal, Moist Summer White
Capparis spinosa Caper Bush Shrub Yes, this is where capers come from. A semi-evergreen 4-5 ft. shrub that loves a hot, dry, exposed spot. A sunny rock wall is perfect.  Hardy to about 10 degrees. Flowers are exotic and gorgeous white and purple. Sun Normal, Dry Summer Purple
Chamaemelum nobile Roman Chamomile Perennial This perennial and semi-evergreen Chamomile is also good for tea.  Has a hint of apple in the distinctive and familiarly scented leaves and flowers.  Likes sun.  6"-12" tall. Blooms in summer. Sun, Part Sun Normal Summer White
Chamomilla recutita German Chamomile Annual This is the Chamomile used for tea.  Will self-seed freely if you let it.  Sweet little white petaled daisies with a yellow center.  Loves sun, but will grow in any bright location. Blooms in summer. Sun, Part Sun Normal Summer White
Chasmanthium latifolium Inland Seaoats Grass Bamboo-like leaves add a distinctive and elegant texture for gardens or borders.  2-3 ft. tall.  Seed heads look like oats nodding at the end of slender stalks.  Moves gracefully in summer breezes. Cimicifuga ramosa Bugbane 'Atroprupurea' Perennial The blooms look like fluffy white rockets shooting above tropical looking foliage. A delightfully striking plant with purple-green new leaves. Commelina dianthifolia Commelina Perennial In gardening, the term 'blue' is frequently said with a wink and a nudge. We mean it on this one. Perfect blue, three-petaled blooms on 12" stems carry on for most of the summer. Slender leaves. Sun, part sun. Sun, Part Sun Normal, Dry Summer Blue

Delphinium nudicaule Delphinium 'Fox' Perennial An unusual Delphinium, short and red.  Vivid red-orange beaked flowers smother 18" high stems mid summer.  This really grabs attention!  Loves sun. Sun Normal Summer Red
Dianthus arenarius f. nanus Dianthus 'Little Maiden' Perennial Blue-green grassy tufts are topped with purest white, fringed, strongly scented flowers on 4" stems in mid to late summer. Woof! What's not to like?  Sun to part shade. Sun, Part Shade Normal Summer White
Dicentra scandens Climbing Yellow Bleeding Heart Perennial A sweet and fairly unusual version of bleeding heart. Will scramble 2-10 ft. on any structure in light shade to part sun.  Beautiful little yellow drooping flowers in summer and fall.  Likes to be moist. Shade, Part Sun Normal, Moist Summer Yellow
Dierama pendulum Angels' Fishing Pole Perennial This will wow you. Incredibly slender 2 ft. stems rise from grassy foliage in mid to late summer and sprout pink bell flowers that cause the stem to droop like a a fishing rod hung with exotic lures. Gorgeous! Needs sun. Sun Normal Summer Pink
Dierama pucherrimum Angels' Fishing Pole 'Dark Cerise' Perennial This will wow you. Incredibly slender 3-4 ft. stems rise from grassy foliage in mid to late summer and sprout dark magenta bell flowers that cause the stem to droop like a a fishing rod hung with exotic lures. Digitalis obscura Sunset Foxglove 'Dusky Maid' Perennial Each of the dozens of flowers per stem looks like a sunset- deep red to magenta to golden.  Native to Spain.  A great texture and color blast in early summer. Digitalis purpurea Foxglove 'Snow Thimble' Perennial Brilliant white, 2"-3" flowers cascade down 3 1/2 ft. stems in mid summer.  This one will catch your eye & make you smile!  Hummingbirds love it, deer don't.  Sun to shade. Sun, Shade Normal Summer White
Digitalis thapsi Foxglove (dwarf) 'Spanish Peaks' Perennial Dark rose to raspberry colored flowers clustered on stems only 16" tall.  Blooms mid summer.  Hummingbirds love it, deer don't.  A sweet, polite foxglove. Sun to shade. Sun, Shade Normal Summer Pink
Frittilaria affinis Checker Lily Perennial One of our most treasured native flowers. 8-12 inches tall, this will become one of your favorite garden treasures. Speckled bell flowers in shades of burgundy, purple and yellow appear in mid spring. Light shade is best. Part Sun Normal Spring Purple
Kitaibelia vitifolia Yugoslav Hibiscus Perennial This is a large, dramatic, flowering perennial that will hold its own in the back of the garden.  Large showy flowers on 6'-8' stems in late summer. Foliage is like grape leaves.  White to pale pink with yellow stamen. Sun to part sun. Sun, Part Sun Normal Summer White
Leontopodium souliei Chinese Edelweiss Perennial A gorgeous ground cover or rockery plant that is smothered with brilliant white starry blooms in mid summer. Easy to grow & let go.  Sun to light shade. Only 4 inches high. Sun, Part Shade Normal Summer White
Linaria aeruginea Roadside Toadflax 'Neon Lights' Perennial Small snapdragon-like flowers on 8" stems bloom late spring to the end of summer with every imaginable color. Seriously. It's like someone tossed a childs paint kit into the garden. Needs sun. Sun Normal Summer All
Lobelia cardinalis Cardinal Flower Perennial Brilliant scarlet flowers cover the tops of sturdy, 3ft. stems from mid summer to mid autumn. Flowers are exotic, bright and very eye-catching.  Historically, a very powerful medicinal herb. Loves sun. Sun Normal, Dry Summer Red
Lychnis flos-cuculi Lychnis 'White Robin' Perennial Deep green leaves on red stems explode with frilly stars of white flowers. Blooms in late spring to early summer. Grows to about 15". Likes sun to part shade. Sun, Part Sun Normal Sping White

Meconopsis napaulensis Nepal Poppy Perennial This one is a stunner!  Grows to 6 feet & topped with brilliant coral colored huge poppies in early summer. And the foliage forms a dense mound of soft, grey-green fuzziness. Protect from winds. Part sun. Part Sun Normal Summer Pink
Meconopsis paniculata Yellow Himalayan Poppy Perennial Delicate pale yellow poppy petals surround a yellow-orange cluster of stamen on 24" high plants.  Elegant lance shaped leaves. Dramatic and lovely in mid-summer. Likes sun to part sun. Sun, Part Sun Normal Summer Yellow
Oenothera macrocarpa ssp. Fremontii Evening Primrose 'Silver Wings' Perennial Slender grey-green leaves give this plant its name. They are topped with papery, lemon yellow, cup-shaped flowers all summer. A striking color combo over a long period. Only 6" tall. Sun. Sun Normal Summer Yellow
Papaver pilosum ssp. spicatum Turkish Poppy Perennial Impossibly beautiful & delicate apricot petals on top of 2 ft. stems wave & sway in early summer breezes.  Likes sun & dryish soils. Sun, Part Sun Normal Summer Apricot
Papaver trinifolium Armenian Poppy Perennial A smallish poppy with bluish grey-green ferny foliage.  Delicate stems rise to 18" and are topped with the most impossibly crepe paper thin, crinkled, apricot colored flowers from early to mid summer. Pardancanda norrisii Candy Lily 'Kiba Giants' Perennial Dozens of large lily-like flowers on 2-3 ft. stems explode in every color imaginable with speckles and splatters of every other color imaginable in summer. Peltiphyllum peltatum Umbrella Plant Perennial Very dramatic shade plant! Flower stems appear in spring and burst open to clusters of pale pink stars with dark pink centers.  Then the leaves emerge which can get 18" across. Stunningly lush. Penstemon hirsutus var. pygmeus Penstemon (dwarf hairy penstemon) Perennial A very short Penstemon, only 4" tall.  Lavender tubular flowers with pure white inside. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees love it.  Blooms late spring. Foliage turns bronzy purple in winter. Likes sun. Sun, Part Sun Normal Spring Purple

Pulsatilla vulgaris Pasque Flower 'Red Clock' Perennial A real treat in spring, usually in April or May.  Dusty crimson flowers grow up to 10", then die back 2 weeks later leaving seed pods that look like puffs of smoke for a few more weeks.  A short display, but well worth it. Ratibida columnifera Red Mexican hat Perennial Rusty red, orange and yellow petals droop down from a strong center cone. Butterfly attractor. Blooms late summer into autumn.  Drought tolerant.  15" high. Sun, Part Sun Normal, Dry Summer Red, Orange

Scutellaria alpina Rainbow Skullcap 'Arcobaleno' Perennial A very durable and reliable rockery plant.  Grows to about 10" with a mixed array of flower colors including blue, purple, pink, white, yellow and many flowers in two-tone combos. Blooms through summer in sun. Sun Normal, Dry Summer All
Scutellaria pontica Skullcap Perennial A very durable and reliable rockery plant.  Grows to about 6" with purple tubular flowers dangling off erect stems.  Loves a hot sunny spot.  Blooms most of the summer. Sun Normal, Dry Summer Purple
Stevia rebaudiana Stevia Herb A wonderful sugar substitute, stevia is up to 300 times sweeter than sugar.  Easy to grow.  Gets about 18" high quickly in summer. Harvest & let it regrow. Not hardy but can be grown in a window inside over winter. Sun. Sun Normal Summer White
Tricyrtis hirta Toad Lily 'Miyazaki' Perennial White, starry flowers splattered with bright purple speckles in late summer. Very exotic looking.  Needs shade. Loves moist soil.  High woodland plant native to Phillipines. Loves the NW. Shade, Part Shade Moist, Normal Summer Purple
Trifolium rubens Clover 'Red Feathers' Perennial 2 ft. tall spikes of flowers rise in mid summer.  Stunning purplish-red puffs are an exquisite blast of color for a few weeks.  Best in mass plantings. Vaccinium myrtillus Bilberry Shrub Also known as European Blueberry.  This blueberry is exceptional for medicinal uses as well as edibility.  Very strongly flavored, dark, blackish-blue berries.  Grows to about 2 ft. Fruits in late summer. Part Shade, Sun Normal Summer Pink
Veratrum nigrum Black False Hellebore Perennial This very unusual specimen will win you over when it blooms. 4 ft. slender spikes studded with purple-red flowers shoot above broad fleshy leaves that resemble Hostas.  Loves shade.  Blooms in early summer. Shade, Part Sun Normal, Moist Summer Purple
